FAQ

What is your goal with the books and the free material you provide?
Everything you see in this site is created by me, Periklis Kotinis and in collaboration with other working musicians and educators who decided to make the materials we use every day available to everyone. Whether you're teaching a class or studying music, we hope you’ll find something here that supports your journey in music. Our goal is to:
● Simplify music theory: Provide practical exercises that can be used directly in lessons.
● Save time: Give teachers and students ready-to-use, effective materials.
● Support your journey: Help anyone learning or teaching music reach their goals faster.
In what language are your books and the ear-training app?
All of the books and theory-notes are written in Greek. While the content follows the international music notation system and may still be useful for non-Greek speakers, the written explanations and instructions are in Greek.
The free ear training and Music Theory apps are provided in both Greek and English.
Are your books suitable for beginners?
Yes, but it depends on the subject! My books follow the Greek music education curriculum, which is structured progressively: 3 years of Music Theory, 3 years of Harmony, 2 years of Counterpoint, and 2 years of Fugue.
The free Music Theory notes start from the fundamentals and are fully suitable for beginners. The advanced topics (Harmony, Counterpoint, and Fugue) build directly on prior knowledge, so you will need a foundation in music theory before diving into them.
Are these materials suitable for self-study, or are they meant for classroom/teacher use?
Both! They are written to serve as clear, structured workbooks for classroom teachers, but the step-by-step approach also makes them great for self-taught musicians.
Do you offer any free materials or tools to try first?
Yes. There are currently available:
● The complete Music Theory Notes & Exercises: A structured guide designed in the style of the Harmony book series, available soon as a free digital download.
● The interactive Theory App: A dedicated web app to practice the exercises and concepts covered in the Theory Notes & Harmony Series Books.
● The Ear Training Web App completely free to practice for your exams directly in your browser.
